About Our School

McFarland High School Early College is committed to empowering students with the skills and opportunities needed for a successful life. Located in southern California, our innovative dual-enrollment program provides students with a unique opportunity—to earn college credits while completing their high school education!

Through rigorous academics, dedicated faculty, and strong partnerships with local colleges and community organizations, our students are accelerating their career goals while reducing the cost of secondary education.

At MHS, we believe every student deserves to access opportunities that prepare them for success, and we are pleased to be that doorway for the families of Kern County.

Our History

Since opening its doors in 1928, McFarland High School has been a cornerstone of our agricultural community, proudly serving generations of students in California’s central valley.

McFarland gained national recognition after our cross-country team, under the direction of Coach Jim White, won multiple league and state championships. This inspiring story highlighting the perseverance and community spirit of our athletes was featured in Disney’s 2015 film McFarland, USA.

Today, our school remains an important part of McFarland’s identity as our students continue to reflect the values of hard work, resilience, and community pride that have characterized us for more than a century.

Our Future

As we honor our history, we remain focused on our future—serving our community through college- and career- preparatory academics, athletics, dual-enrollment programs, and student leadership opportunities.

We are the #1 dual-enrollment high school in California and a California Distinguished School. We are recipients of the Dual Enrollment Exemplary Award, and two-time Vex Robotics State Champions.
